Question Possible heresy.....

My OH and I were discussing pizza last night and we decided that Pizza Hut was/is far better than anything we've had over here. To confirm this further we have not even eaten a pizza at all this year.

Now, are we just sick of living in Italy and reminiscing over something that is pure rubbish (we've not had a Pizza Hut for years and years), or do we have a point?

I know that every Italian I've ever spoken to thinks that a Margarita is food of the gods, but why??

Also, why no garlic bread or salad bar with the little bits of crispy bacon croutony thingies......... *yum*.

LOL, not a possibility I had considered, but thank you

I don't own a tracksuit nor am I tattooed, I have never been subject to an ASBO or CCJ, I have no desire to appear on Jeremy Kyle and have never demanded DNA tests..... can I still be trash?

*worried*

Maybe Pizza's in pisa are just crap?!

We even have a fantastic delivery pizza company here. I pay about €24 for 4 pizza's and drinks - Domino in the UK never came in less than £45!!

I like Napolitana and GSN (Gorgonzola, Sausage and walnut, no tomato!) You really need to find a decent pizza place - Pizza Hut !!! Pizza Express I could understand! Always makes me laugh when people tell me, knowing I live in Florence, how much they like a pizza fiorentina! Doesn't exist here!

when i lived i pisa, going back 8 years or so now, we used to go to a great pizzeria near the station. i couldnt tell you the name or the name of the road, but it was near the station on the road that branches off to the right when you walk out of the station past the fountain. i remember the pizzas were massive, and used to hang right over the plates all round. i have never had pizzas quite so big since. i find that pizzerias can vary greatly. some are fab and others are indeed worse than in pizza express in the uk!!

Yes that's true. When I first arrived in Italy I was trying almost all the various types of pizza but now I settle on my 2 favourites: diavola con salsiccia or sorpressa, grana e patate fritte. This way I can compare the pizzeries.

What I do find is that, like Testarossa hinted at, is that even if the pizza isn't that good, you are unlikely to pay £10 like you would in the UK. Even in some of the nicer restaurants here in Vicenza, the max you would pay for a pizza is 7-8 euro. That's what I would pay for a minging cardboard tasting pizza in Tooting Broadway from the chinese/kebab shop/chicken palace type takeaway on the corner!

duffer, I used to get pizza Napoletana so I could compare too. It seems to be a good way to find the best pizzaria's. So far the worst here has been those from a fairly big delivery service which I don't use anymore, but other than that they all seem fairly good everywhere we go, maybe I'm not that fussy! I like thin crust though so that probably helps!

In fact one other place that everyone raves about was probably the second worst pizza I had - it has a great rep as a genuine Neopolitan pizzaria so they skimp on the toppings, as no-one complains - most of mine was plonked in the middle so there was loads of dry crust, ugh!

Mmmmm Pizza - food of the gods!! Pizza is my all time fave food!

My Italian rellies laugh at me every time we visit - I eat pizza every day we are there - they always ask 'don't you have pizza in England' - well yes we do - stodgy, sloppy yucky ones!

IMO pizza in Italy is infinitely better than anything I have eaten here in the UK - and cheaper - even in the centre of Rome!!!!!

We do occasionally get take away from Pizza Hut but we are normally disappointed - although I must admit we do occasionally attend the Pizza Hut 'all you can eat lunchtime buffet of pizza and pasta for £4.99' - not bad if you just want to pig out and are not too fussed on quality!!
