Nothing wrong with your way, but most of us tend to ignore silly -insert stronger word- remarks, not wanting to give some people space. And you know the saying, 'silence speaks louder than words'. Any way, a quick pm to Lorna and co., soon stops things in their tracks.

mm - well I'll try to minimise PMing admins - to save them time and to minimise censorship - a dangerous path.

Sorry 37100, but I can't agree that ignoring discriminatory remarks is the best policy. It implies consent.

:D I think I've pm'd 2, maybe 3 times. There usually isn't any need. And you will find that adim doesn't censor, except on rare occasion. Usually, a reminder of the rules is enough.

Oh, I quite understand your point of view, but I also feel that the more space you give people, the more they will preach and sadly, more people will listen - and agree. And I have contested posts that are inappropriate, but some people will just go on, on and on and never get 'it' so, after several hundred posts, for the most, after another poster has pointed out inappropriate remarks, I ignore them.

Hello Italy forum, just dropping by as this thread was brought to my attention.

What a shame, kasia00, that you were made to feel less than welcome. I'm a member (and now global moderator) of this forum because I'm married to an expat Brit, just like you are. You are in fact, a leg up on me (if we are keeping score that way) because you are British. I'm surprised some tried the old 'name of the site' argument.

While the name of this site is BritishExpats, there is no nationality test for posting here. You are as welcome to participate as anyone, though as you've noticed for your original request, you might not find many Polish people living in Italy posting to this group. But, you never know when someone will have a lead to a new friend for you, so I hope you stay around! :)

Just wanted to point out that only 1 poster said this forum (and we know who he is) was for British expats.

I merely pointed out the fact that this is a British expats forum in response to a request looking for Polish people.

quick everyone lets PM a mod Mr Posh is being offensive

@ Lorna Just read rule 1 Does that mean that I can not call Duffer names?

@ meauxna: as i have said I have read all the post: where does it say that kasia00 was not made welcome:

About what Birchwood said: IMO he has aright to write what he wants and he is not being racist as he had a Polish uncle making him part Polish: It would be like me speaking about English people in the war would that make me racist?

Re: Polish people in Como?

There is joking and taking the mickey and then there are insults. We know Duffer can take it as well as give it. Others might be more sensitive.

Sometimes it's not always about what a person wants to say, but how they say it and the words they choose. Nobody is saying that an insightful and respectable debate cannot be had and opinions exchanged

Hi Kasia00,

Welcome to Anyexpats forum.

Just spent an amazing weekend in Krakow. One of the most beautiful cities I have visited. Tried traditional wild boar served in a bread cup and of course Vodka. Fantastic

The reason there are a lot of Polish workers in the UK is because they work so hard. I used to employ about 14 in a factory and they ran the line without an English supervisor with less stress and aggravation.

Good luck in finding polish people in Como.

I thought we had a war because of the Germans.

Re: Polish people in Como?

:)Bricwood, I don't know what history you read, but it aint the facts.
The facts are that Hitler wanted lebensraum and he wanted Danzig. He didn't care how he got them. The Saar first (Der Saar war deutsch, ist deutsch, und bleibt deutsch) then Austria, and the Sudetenland. Dismembered Czechoslovakia, and then nesxt step September 1939 the Polish Corridor. So the USSR thought 'what a good idea' and went into Eastern Poland to grab their bit. Their method of ethnic cleansing was to deport all Poles who wouldn't/couldn't speak Russian to labour camps in Siberia. Then in 1941; when Hitler invaded Russia; the Poles suddenly found themselves 'liberated' as allies and were sent to Tehran. Those that survived the journey eventually joined the Free Polish Forces of General Anders.
ciao for now,
'o nonno

Hello,

I deleted your personal 'phone number. This webiste is open to people all over the world and although I presume the majority of us are "normal" and decent, you just never know who might be lurking.

Make another couple of posts and then you can use the private messaging system.

Lorna
