Default Options for getting to Stansted?

Hi,
Following on from the quest for a Northern UK service to Lamezia, does anyone know of any other options for getting to stansted airport from the north west?

I currently set off from my house just after midnight to allow approx 3.5 / 4 hrs drive to Stansted where I then park in the elephant parking for about £22-£30 depending on time spent away.

So back to my original question, are there any other options available that I may not know about, special coach / cheaper parking / train deals?

Thanks in advance
Andy

You could go into central London and get the express out to Stansted from Liverpool Street. But if all you are paying is parking and petrol currently this would greatly increase your costs. I think Terravision will probably run a bus from London out to Stansted too. Again, other than what you are doing this is, I believe, your only other option.

At least the trains from the NW are pretty quick into London though. And National Express obviously has a service, but it can be involved in all sorts of hold ups on the way, so if you are time dependent it may not be a good option.

Thanks for the reply,
I would get the train down but it absolutely disgusts me to pay anywhere up to £200 per ticket when:
A; the trains are so basic and not to mention problematic.
B; It would cost aapproximatelyquarter of the price for the same journey anywhere in Europe.

Ah well, looks llike I'm driving to Stansted until the airline gets a move on

Something my OH introduced me to on the trains in the UK is buying singles. He sometimes was able to do Manchester - London for about £30 one way. But this is still more than your parking! Ryanair probably flys into Stansted from one of the UK airports in the North.

Its possible to sat in the Radisson hotel overnight at Stansted Airport for £130 to £160 ish which includes 8 days parking. not cheaper than you quote but another option. You still have to get up at 3.30 to check in for the 6am flight though.
I tried it and would probably not do it again for the extra couple of hours kip you get.

Easyjet fly Newcastle to Stansted, not sure whether the flight times would be any good though, and they can cancel flights at very short notice, as happened to my daughter in August, 2006.
