Yep, think this school stuff is getting to me....
My friend up in a small town in Yorkshire had floods earlier in the week. I think it's mainly in the north isn't it?
Have you got your shopping list ready?
Floods and storms where?

I am jealous Ernesto, I had a bottle last year of freshly pressed olive oil given to me by a friend and it was divine.
I have 3 olive trees in the garden and have never picked the olives as they are not the oily type, but the green pickling ones. I have no idea how to pickle them, so the birds have them.

still cant find much on keswick. saw a couple of pics on news, didnt look too bad, mainly A66 (flooded but passable) and the river had come up over the road edge a bit in the town only close to river. they said water has gone down now
bad news is there is heavy rain and strong winds due saturday and sunday, though no where near as heavy as what caused flood.
lots of houses were without electric in keswick, cockermouth and workington.

1)put olives in a container add water till all the olives are submerged in water
2)for 10 days change the water twice a day
2) after the 10 days drain the water and place the olives in a jar cover them in salt and then add water, seal the jar
3)let olives rest for a minimum of 3 months and then they should be ready to eat.
We were also told not to worry if when we open the jars there is a bit of whitish foamy liquid it is the salt
Must admit they are to die for and nothing like the ones bought in the shops

Been picking olives for a couple of weeks now, on my mates groves, they handed me gloves which I used for about one minute and took them off...Yesterday, it was jumper off and t-shirt, they looked at me in horror!!! I did try to explain that yesterday was Scottish summer eather and we wear shorts...It's a bit lke the "don't go outside with wet hair, get the hairdryer out" it's winter and so ye must be covered up or ye'll die of pnuemonia...
anyway, yeah, it's great family fun and I'll get all the olive I can handle...Same with the grapes, next week is picking tatties, and there's fruit trees in abundance I can help myself to....
Caspoli, Mignano Monte Lungo...Just south of Cassino...

I love the oil - but personally I cannot stand olives.
I can imagine the shock on the pickers' faces though when Clint stripped down to his t-shirt.
Foolish man - it is the end of November and heavy covering up time - regardless of the weather or what you're doing

I don't know about the green olives but the local guy who collects our olives gave us black ones last year and we were told to do as follows:
1)put olives in a container add water till all the olives are submerged in water
2)for 10 days change the water twice a day
2) after the 10 days drain the water and place the olives in a jar cover them in salt and then add water, seal the jar
3)let olives rest for a minimum of 3 months and then they should be ready to eat.
We were also told not to worry if when we open the jars there is a bit of whitish foamy liquid it is the salt
