Default Obtaining Irish Citizenship whilst in Italy

Hello all! I am seriously considering obtaining Irish citizenship via my Irish grandma, I have already ordered copy certificates (come on Poste Italiane!) and should have everything I need soon. My question is about what I then need to do/who to notify when I eventually get citizenship and the passport? Has anyone changed their status whilst being resident in Italy? Any help or information would be gratefully received.
Thanks!

Yes I have, I did it at the commune. It’s relatively straightforward and consists of filling out a form, showing CdI, residency certificate and costs around €16.
