Still has to be declared and tax paid if due. You also have to declare oversea's bank accounts and property. 183 days, consecutive or not, in any one year, Jan to Dec.

ok sounds like I will be better off staying as a tourist, especially as I travel alot

If you wife takes up residency, the tax office could presume that, for tax purposes, are resident here too.
