I am buying a property in Lombardy/Emilia Romagana. I found that barclays UK will do international mortgages, filled out forms, got aggreement in principle, sent off all the paperwork and haven't heard anything for 6 weeks now.
HELP can anyone give me some help, advice about who to go to, what to do etc etc
Anyone out there who can cut thru some b/s ?

This might sound really silly ....... but you have tried contacting their overseas mortgage department or whatever haven't you?
And in all honesty - six weeks does not seem a lot to what you might have waited had you tried to get an Italian mortgage on your property.
Out of curiosity ......... English banks, solicitors, vendors and buyers seem very big on a survey. How did that work with an English bank and an Italian property ?

It was Barclays who deal with Barclays Italy, so you fill out all the forms in English, they transmit them to Italy/translated!
Guess I am just frustrated as I want to get out here and start working on it!

thanks for the offer.
The place I am buying is just outside Viadana, just waiting for the english house sale to complete and then I am coming over, with my diy tools to start working on the house there. Initially renting some of it out to cover mortgage, then the more we can complete the more money we can put towards doing up the barn which is our final goal!
ps you can say forza man utd if you want, but i am a rugby fan!
