If you are staying less the 90 days you need to declare your presence in questura. More than 90 days you need to sign on at the town hall. For this you'll need proof of income and health care. A EHIC card isn't enough where we live, but it might where you are.

As Europeans there is no need to declare anything for less than 90 days. Over 90 days and you should ask for residence at the anagrafe. if your husband has a contract of employment it should suffice for residency along with all the other bits of paper....

if you are in italy for more than 180 days you will need to file for local income tax, the currency and location of where the salary is paid is immaterial. there is a double taxation agreement so you won't pay twice. If the salary is paid in GBP then presumably it is from a UK company, they should help you filing the income tax forms.
