Italy in a muddle as reported in the Telegraph
I cannot understand why Renzi is so keen to bring down the government and encourage Meloni and Salvini.

Presumably he thinks that he can be a kingpin in a new administration. No idea how realistic that is; but on the face of it he's pissed off a lot of his potential allies. Surely the last thing that Italy needs right now, in the middle of a pandemic, is a new burst of political instability and jostling for power

Conte seems to have done a decent job in difficult circumstances. At least he looks fairly respectable among world leaders.

Renzi has big money behind him plus the fact his ego is bigger than the rest put together. This unseemly scramble is about money. There are 200 billion euros to play for - and Salvini Meloni and Renzi and co cant wait to get their hands on it and give it to their mates. I dont mind Conte, and even if I loathed him theres noone in parliament who could do a better job, frankly.

It doesn't matter what colour the flag, it's always about money. Can't wait to get their snouts into the trough.

Draghi has been a success as a central banker but he doesn't seem to have roots in any political movement. If he is supported by a strong team of technocrats in key ministries, he might steer Italy through to the end of this parliament, leaving Salvini et al to go on the hustings, as they intend to do anyway.
As for Renzi, I'm sure that Shakespeare had him summed-up. Answers on a pc, please.
