IMU Reduction for non resident pensioners
Hi
I have read this on the webste of my comune
I have read this on the webste of my comune
- Riduzione IMU per i pensionati residenti all’estero (art.
Anybody had experience of this? Does it apply to Brits as well or is it just for the Italians?

Re: IMU Reduction for non resident pensioners
That passed me by, but now reading the law Im not sure it anyway applies. I am currently going through this with INPS. THe UK is no longer in Europe so does not benefit and does not have a convenzione internazionale with Italy at the moment. Nobody - at least at my INPS - seems to know.
According to the law cited above, you must not be resident in Italy, but reside in a third state while receiving a pension from Italy or a country which has an international convention with Italy or the EU. Which of course will be a total nightmare for the comunes, because they only have a list of the AIRE subjects and cant prove or disprove anything if you declare you are eligible for the reduction, other than whether you are a resident or not.
Such a loophole wont go down well with our new government so I guess the whole agevolazione will be shelved pdq and pensioners will have to pay the same as everyone else.
