Default Idiots guide to

I have a UK car here and want to change it to Italian plates

Anyone that has done this, can you offer me an idiots guide to getting it done?

i.e

DO this, bring this, pay this, click here!

It has an MOT until October and so i want to avoid it being tested again before this

I plan to fly to the UK in October and pick up a 2nd car (4x4) and had actually thought about driving the current car to the UK for an MOT and then back (insane) with me paying a friend to bring one car back.

Also costs?
3.0 jaguar x type 05 plate
I think it goes on BHP which is 230
thank you

Hi,

The answer is simply to go to an agenzia pratiche, which is a sort of one-stop-shop for everything to do with bureaucracy, cars and documents, and just let them get on with it. You'll find at least one in most towns, possibly with an "autoscuola" sign in the window, because a lot of them are also driving schools. Ask around for a reliable one. Ideally you want an agenzia pratiche where the daughter, a raven-haired beauty with a second job at the post office and an interest in amateur theatricals, who teaches lorry drivers, is a friend of the director of the local PRA. For her sake, the direttore will expedite your case.

Expect it to go smoothly, but to cost a bit more than you'd expected (this isn't from personal experience, but I've heard people say) and to take longer. You're right to want to start now. Everything'll be shut for most of August - possibly even July. The agenzia will tell you exactly what documents you need.

You can import a car assuming you are resident in Italy. go to a sbrigapratica as suggested above. If you arent residnet then it gets very hard

on a still car related matter, What if your old Punto has died a death ? Our friendly chap at our garage said that he will arrange his friend to take it to the scrap yard in the sky. But alarm bells started ringing,
Do I keep the number plates, ? and who do we inform that the car is dead ? is it PRA ? Bollo is due now, but car been dead for 3 months, we really should get rid of him.
Our friendly guy said that it wont costs us anything to get the car scrapped ? but I am a bit unsure. I have done a search on here regarding scrapping a car, but no exact details have come up.
Cheers

Scrapping a car is simple. Yes, sometimes that does happen in Italy. It costs about €150. That includes the towing and a couple of the usual 'bolli'. The scrapyard must give you a cert. of demolition. Can't remember the exact name. After a couple of months, check with the PRA that it has been de-registered.
