Hi everyone,
I hope you all had a buona Pasqua!?
Ok...Butter. I live in a town on the coast, south of Tuscany and I in this town the only butter in the shops is more like lard. Now when me and OH were visiting friends in La Spezia we found ourselves in a massive (asda like) supermarket and while OH was off looking at cheese (as you do when your Italian) I found Lurpak!!!!!!!! I know!!! I was VERY excited.
Ok so I know Italy is very "Regional" and in the north the butter is nicer??!! But I guess my question is.....can anyone give me a brand of Italian butter thats nice (for jacket spuds/mash and so on) that I might not have tried?
I know its a random thread?!??!!

Most italian butter is unsalted and doesn't have much flavour. I always use Galbani butter, which is in a gold wrapping, as I find it tastier than others.
Give it a try as it is available all over Italy.

Lurpak...
That's the "regional" butter I buy here in Florence. I get the spreadable one too....Shall I shut up now?

I use the organic butter from Esselunga, but I'm guessing that you don't have one of those.

Is it in Auchan?
I think I got some there once in the Auchan inside the Piramidi shopping centre but I'm not driving all the way over there just for a pack of butter.

I think we get it from Interspar. We only go now and again to Auchan but I'm sure I've seen it there before.

Hi there
We are in piemonte and go to the local supermarket called Bennett where you can buy lurpak but only in a blocks and not the spreadable ones so perhaps you could look for a Bennett supermarket near you. I'm not sure weather Bennetts is just in this area or throughout italy. There are 2 here about 20mins apart from each other.
Hope this helps
Cheers
