Hello!

So started looking into nursery schools for my eldest who is three, can anyone point me in the right direction as to where to look for pre schools in my local area (pozza/modena)

Many thanks x

Hello
I don't know your area but as no-one has replied then I will. If your son is already three then you are looking for an asilo/scuola materna/scuola dell'infanzia. They will all close at the end of this month if you want to visit them. Usually registration is in the spring before the new intake starts so you might find that some are full.

There might be a list on your local comune's website or just look in the phone book.

Just send them to a local scuola materna run by the comune and not anything private, you will be wasting your money. Don't worry about the language either, they'll be fine. The state nurseries have far, far better facilities.

Getting them in the a state run scuola materna is not as easy as it sounds , there are waiting lists and here in Parma even the private ones are oversubscribed . There maybe '' baby parking '' which provide a range of services and are paid for by the hour .

I'm presuming you want your child to learn something and socialize. I would not recommend a Baby Parking unless you are seriously desperate ! I have lived in Modena. Pozza is small and you should'nt have too much trouble getting him into a proper local state scuola materna. This will give you the opportunity to meet other local families, and your child will pick up the language well, and get a good all round early years education.
