Hi I take it you are talking about the IMU tax, my son is single, has a small 2 bed flat in Umbria (no other property) and paid 17 euro for his first installment, the council do not know yet what the rate of the next installments will be. We live in Puglia and jointly own our 3 bed large house, we have just paid 93 euros each for our first installments, our commercialista (well worth the 50 euro fee) has told us to call into her early December to have details of our next and last installment. Both ourselves and our son do not own any other property, so not too much of a blow. Friends of ours own three properties and their IMU bill will be huge.

Not much positive feedback I'm afraid ... The property tax has been re-introduced under the new Monti government (Berlusconi abolished the previous one as a means of gaining popularity..) and has caused quite a stir.
Actually the first installment is due today (18th June) so if you pay after you will also have to pay a "fine".
There's athread going on over here, http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=749022 but if you want a quick calculation then this is the best site I have found. You will of course need all your property details and your codice fiscale presuming you have one.

The form you have to fill out is called F24 . .if you're not living in Italy I've no idea how you can pay as you have to go to a bank or post-office, unless you have someone who can do it for you..
Anyway it's not all doom and gloom as some folks are paying next to nothing it seems.

I don't think they've extended the deadline. The CAAF calculated our's. It only cost us €10.
