Default families in Milan

I am married to an Italian but we both have been away from Milan for almost 10 years. This time, we will go back as a family with a 3 year old boy. We want to put him in the International School of Milan based on what we've seen on the internet. Questions:

1. Are there other private pre-schools just as good in Milan just in case price and entry become issues?
2. What are the best areas to live in in the city? We used to live around the Prada Showroom. We find it no longer conducive to family. We want a lot of open spaces, friendly neighborhood and safe, close to his school. Possible?
3. I would appreciate some websites or egroups that could address family expat issues in Milan per se, if they exist. We had one when we were in Shanghai and it has been very helpful in the daily and macro essentials of Shanghai living.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello and Welcome

We aren't in Milan but Varese. Lots of people live in Varese and commute to Milan (Italians included). Obviously, this depends where on Milan you need to get to for work. There is an International School for which the fees are about three thousand euros per year for private students.

I don't know what the rents are in Milan but here you can get a house with garden from about a thousand a month, so long as you don't want to live right in the centre or too close to school.
