Default Dentist prices

Well we all know they're expensive, but I didn't know until today that there is actually a national price list for dental treatments.

Download the official ANDI (associazione nazionale dentisti Italiani) at the bottom of this page.

http://www.caricoimmediato.com/tariandi.htm

If your dentist charges a lot more than the higher price on this list - then you are being ripped off.

My little one is off to get his back molars sealed this afternoon and I already know the price ............ and it's not the cheaper one on this list

You can have a night guard from 300-500 euro. Bit steep.
Coronas are very expensive too. only about a quid down Tesco.

Ah...here i have some VERY good advice for who needs to a lot of dental work!!! 2 years ago i went to Hungary to have all my teeth sorted out...Brilliant dentists and very good prices!!! It is always possible to arrange a minibus of people to go up there and do all the work necessary, stay in top class hotels and spend a fraction of the price asked here in Italy!!! Should anyone be interested just let me know ok!!

Is Hungary cheaper than Croatia for dentists? I know lots of Italians that go to Croatia for treatment. Also, I've heard that the quality of dental cosmetic treatment in Greece is fantastic.

Hi for the same work i first had a quote from a dentist in Croatia, in Hungary i spent half as much as i would have in Croatia. Anyway if anyone needs a price list i can always give it to them...Jenny

Hmmm my dentist is about on track but it does feel pricey. What I don't miss about the NHS is being treated like scum by receptionists who want you to take out their private dental insurance for more or less the same treatment... oh and for the kids too when all their NHS treatment is free!! We do have private insurance for dental care that pays for all but €50 worth of the treatment we may need. I have heard from a Bulgarian friend that the prices are very good there and that the service is much better than even the UK private treatment. Food for thought eh...

I came on here especially to ask about this, but I see it is already here, one step ahead of me obviously!

I have just come back from the dentist, and after thinking how lucky I was to find a nice, gentle dentist, he told how much the whitening would cost and it almost floored me! I have looked on the price list but don't really understand it. My italian isn't that great.

He charged me €150 for a clean with €50 discount as I bought it with whitening which he stated was €600.

I haven't paid the full amount but a deposit of 200 (I was in shock) which I am now worrying about after I looked at the list.

Have I been taken for a numpty! Is this way too much or normal?

I've had cleanings by 2 different dentists and I think I paid 60 euro at one and 100 at another. they both did good jobs. No reciept of course. No idea about whitening as I've never had that done - I'd like to though.

When I took my son to the dentist I saw some adverts for new whitening procedures using led lights andd god know what else. There were no prices given. Don't know what kind of treatment your dentist is giving you.

Thanks guys,

Ok so teeth cleaning normal. Good.

But is the price given for whitening only for half a mouth? As in, should I expect to double that price if I want the whole mouth done (bringing him up to a normal amount!)

single tooth only?? I suppose that is something special for 200 a tooth! I don't know what treatment it is either (I prob should have asked but we were both tired from trying to understand each other!!). My italian seems to be getting worse!!

Well it says one half only but if he mentioned 600 euro he's probably going to do the whole mouth. It also says that the price includes the tray thingy that they put the chemicals into and then press up against a row of teeth.

Is the that the kind of whitening you're getting? If you haven't started it yet, you can cancel if you want.

No he seemed genuine and I'm sure he did mean the whole mouth (I'll check!). I know it's a lot but I've wanted it for ages - so I'll think I'll go for it in that case!

Thank you all - thank god my rent's cheap!

But I must say, it's very decpetive - why would you want only haf your mouth done?!
