Couriers
 

Hello, Can anybody recommend a reliable courier for parcel from Italy to UK please? Preferably one you've had experience with. Cost doesn't matter.

I have never had a reason to courier anything from Italy, but one of the biggest risks of couriering something internationally is if there is a transfer between the courier who you give the parcel to, and a separate courier who delivers the parcel in another country, where your parcel could, almost literally, fall into the crack - the sending courier can "prove" they handed it over (perhaps put it on a plane), but the delivering courier has no record of receiving it.

So I would recommend you use a courier that operates in both origin and destination countries, and there aren't many to choose from that operate in both the UK and Italy and you will get the benefit of seamless end-to-end tracking.

Two that I know of that I have used, that fill that criterion, are UPS and FedEx. I have used both of them and IMO there isn't a hair's breadth of difference between them, and I would, other things being equal (such as convenient pick up schedule/ drop off location), use whichever is cheaper.

DHL and UPS are both good. UPS have collection points and are very reasonable.

DHL are the best reliable Ive used. UPS were fine in the UK - but handed over to the worst courier in Italy once here....

Sent passport docs to the UK using UPS and they picked up from my house. Was so much cheaper than DHL. Was just a large envelope though, not a parcel.

Was that recently? UPS have their own network in Italy now, they even have their own boats in Venice - I saw one there myself when I was visiting.

If you read trustpilot it says they are all terrible. I wonder if they get less reliable as you move south. I moved all my possessions from the UK with UPS without a hitch. The only bad Courier courier experience has been Hermes and Poste.

back to couriers and passport renewal from Italy

I sent my renewal application via UPS, they picked up on 24th January, replacement passport arrived back in my hands here 17th February

Exceptional service with very regular tracking updates

Update. Finally succeeded in setting up an account with UPS & solved all the paperwork required for posting Italy to UK.
All went very well so thanks for all the positives!
