Does anyone know if there is anyway to see planning applications in Italy online ? There are a few big extensions being put on properties nearby to us, they will obviously have had to get agreed by some committee ?

You need to go to the urbanistica department of the comune. Firstly go to the cantiere and see if they have all the requisite notices on display. If they dont, then you can just call the vigili and ask them if the work has been licenced. If they do you can go to the ufficio tecnico/urbanistica and ask. Its not like other countries - they will tell you if its all legal and above board, but thats about it. If you are worried about loss of sunlights, noise etc, you can ask what measures have been taken with regard to those. Otherwise you are a bit dependent on the head honcho telling you what you want to know.
