Yes, I don't know how that works either. If you have paid into both systems and then retire, don't you get it all through the country that you've decided to retire in? Ie if you decide to go back to the UK, you get it throught the DWP and if in Italy through that system. If you decided to retire to UK and then change your mind?

I recall asking sometime back about healthcare and citizenship. I seem to remember understanding that if you are an Italian citizen you have a right to healthcare whether you pay into the system or not? Is this true? Maybe I miss understood?

Well, it doesn't seem to be so in my case. I receive a small pension from the DWP, who has my IBAN number. I'm now qualifying for a part from INPS, who again has my IBAN number.

Can't help you there, I'm afraid!

That may be so. I'm not an Italian citizen. To get onto the Italian healthcare books it was enough for me to show a CUD to prove that I was working and paying taxes. But that was a good number of years back - it may not be so easy now.

Dear Brits: This is what it’s like to be a non-EU citizen living in the EU.

Article full of inaccurate figures, number of residents, EU contributions and ''rabies'' is endemic in quite a few of EU and neighboring countries.
As for the comments...

Don't know if this might be an idea - Brits ask for dual citizenship for expats in Spain post Brexit

It seems worldwide a turning point is underway where people are not satisfied with trends in their countries which politicians are unable to address, whether Brexit in the UK, the general political mood in USA, and other areas.

My impression is that for those that voted to leave that they have concerns that while Brexit may not address the other side doesn't have way to address with remaining. The same in a different context in the USA. And the changing world economy, politics and in Europe the demographic trends point to a much different world in 10 or 20 years.

This girl sounds very young. It's the sort of patronising article that comes from a sixth form debate.

That should be interesting - would be interested to hear how italian tv reports it.

As i understand it, Renzi is trying to leverage brexit for all it is worth to try to get the eu and germany in particular to cut him some slack with regard to the italian banks.

Six million UK citizens are eligible for Irish passports and so far, the rush to get them has been phenomenal. There are at least two years left before you are out of the EU, so there is no hurry!
This post appeared recently in a newpaper: Brexit could be followed by Grexit, Departugal, Italeave, Czechout, Oustria, Finish, Slovakout, Latervia, Byegium. Only Remania will stay. Well, at least a sense of humour will prevail when all is said and done!!
