Hi,
Searching for property in the Lucca/Barga area. Living at present in the North of Italy and wanting to know about the community, work oppourtunities and schooling.
Any advice would be grateful.
Thanks

Hi Harley, How are you??? Sorry I cannot offer you any advice on the move but just wish you all the best. What has made you want to leave the North if you don't mind me asking.

All I know about Barga is that they have strong links with Scotland (as half of Paisley seem to come from there!) and I think they have a community of Scots of Italian origin who have moved back there. I've never been there myself- I only know this because a Scottish friend of mine has all four grandparents from there (singer Paolo Nutini too, I think!)

Hi malcesine99,
Nice to hear from you. Still looking forward to your move ?
Where we live presently its very expensive to expand to a bigger house the work for my OH is scarce and the hours that he works presently we pass like ships in the night. The moms who I meet at the nursery keep themselves to themselves and its become quite lonely.
We have visited Tuscany four times in the last month with appointments with estate agents and think we have found a nice property with an acre of land so...
Thanks for asking

Thats sounds great, have only passed through Lucca on way to 'al mare!'. (Viareggio). Gorgeous. What about OH job, is there more opportunities? We have had viewers for our house but no offers, early days though. OH would like to be in Italy for Sept but unless we get a decent offer from someone in a position to move quickly that seems a bit optimistic but who knows. Our house in Italy is presently occupied by inlaws! (its been in family for generations) Their new apartment was supposed to be ready for Aug but now it looks like later in year. If we end up out sooner we will rent somewhere nearby. Good luck with your move, keep me posted!
