Thank you all!
Little Brando is doing well. He and his mummy are still in hospital until tomorrow afternoon I guess.
I haven't taken any time off work except the day of the birth. Although I have been going into work a little late, e.g. 30mins after visiting them in the hospital.
Do I have any entitlement to paternity leave without it being deducted from the mother's?

Glad all is okay.
I don't know if anything has changed ......... but in 2003 my partner could have taken his paternity leave ONLY if I went back to work and gave up some of mine. He took a few days off as holidays and then it was all pretty much as before - plus a new babay in the house.
You could call your local INPS office and ask them or see if there is anything about this on their web page.

hey Duffer
Have pm'd you - there seems to be have been some changes and you might get paternity leave irrespective of your wife's.

Congratulations. I remember the sleepless nights well. You've got some great times ahead though, remember that when you can't keep your eyes open

The sleepless nights don't last forever. The only advice anyone ever gave me that I thought was any use was "the first six weeks is the worst" It was more like 2 months for me but it definately got easier all of a sudden.
