Default Any tradesmen/women here?

I was just curious. I'm an electriian and was offered a quarter of the wage that i would get back home by a local tradesman if i was to work for him. I know they charge the customer a similar rate to the UK so as you can see they feel they can take advantage. Also the standard of work i have seen so far wouldn't be acceptible in the UK, so there might also be a conflict of standards. At the moment i'm doing something else but there might be a time when i have to fall back on the electrical work. Anybody else in the same boat?

Find another tradesman willing to pay you better. Electricians like plumbers, charge the customer a lot so it sounds like he'll be pocketing the money you worked for.

Failing that - a lot of machinery building factories use electricians to wire up the machines. I think that comes under the title of 'mechanical electrician' though rather than domestic.
