Longest sea crossing bridge in the World "planned" between Melaka (Malacca) and Dumai in Sumatra, Indonesia. It would be some 128 km long. Will it happen? Who knows. You can read more about it here...

I know nothing whatsoever about engineering but surely all those earthquakes in Sumatra would affect it?? Not sure I'd be confident about driving over it.

If they want a long bridge, why not to Sarawak...its still Malaysia after all......although I note of late that all reference to Malaysia has sort of disappeared and instead all T shirts, signs etc now say "Sarawak- Borneo" hmmm.

Reckon it'd cause some immigration problems with Indonesians, wouldn't it?

A bridge to Sarawak - now you're talking. Crikey, that would be a loooong bridge. But where would you start from?

Easy. Kuantan across to the Anambas group(they are Indonesian if you want to be international) and island hop to Sarawak. Piece of cake really.
