Young Frenchies - What is the best approach ?
Some relatives to me are willing to spend some time in Australia in 9 months
time.
Ideally, they would like to be able to work, so that the Holiday Working
Visa was perfect.
But guess what, there is no such thing for froggies !!
The would like to stay in Australia for 1 year, and feel how it is before to
decide to move in Australia and go for a real immigration procedure.
Anyone have an idea on what would be the best visa to go for considering the
above mentionned facts ?
Cheers

You could get the multiple entry visa which allows unlimited stays of maximum 3 months each, over 4 years. You just need to leave Aus and return to get another 3 months. However, this visa does not permit work.

Don
Tourist visas are not supposed to give de-facto residence in
Australia.
If someone tries this, sooner or later an immigration officer is going
to question their intentions on entry. This can lead to their tourist
visa or ETA being cancelled and entry being refused.

Yes, a friend of mine tried that 2 years ago and they ask him to leave the
third time.
Plus one of their criterias would be to be able to work.
