Got my unabridged birth certificate yesterday which I thought I could use as proof that I was related to my father (for sponsorship)..

My silly mother did not put him down as the father because she was angry!!! And it will take 6 MONTHS to amend my birth certificate - is there any other way for me to prove it???

Stat Decs?? Anybody had the same problem?

Can your mother do a stat dec confirming who your father is, and possibly confirming that she was a bit of numpty

LOL!! And she was definately a numpty! Clearly Dad was out the night before at a party and she got angry with him - so did this thinking it was revenge. sigh!That's what we are going to do and hope that it will be fine.

It's clearly the sins of the fathers (or in this case, your mother!) that reflect upon the children. Can't really help but I'm staggered that she could do something as stupid as that when it could have serious repercussions for you in later life! Hope you get it sorted.

Thanks. Just spoke to her and she admits that she left him off on purpose - she says it was his own fault because he was never around. How horrible. I am the one that has to deal with the problems now. Admittedly he was a very naughty boy when younger - but turned out to be a really great Dad after they got divorced... sigh!! Anyway - I think she is very embarrased about it now!
