Worth taking video camera to NZ?
Is it worth taking a Hi8 video camera to NZ from the UK? Will it play back through an NZ purchased TV if connected via S-Video or a 3-headed stero phone cable into the Scart socket on the TV?
I'm guessing in theory it should work if connected via the Scart socket, i.e., the opposite of how to get UK TV's to work in NZ but I recall several years ago my ex-father-in-law brought his NZ video camera over to the UK and it wouldn't play back through my TV.
Thanks,
Ben

Physical connector type is irrelevant. It depends on
TV understanding encoding system used by the camera.
Generally, modern TVs are much better at this than
older ones, but you can always check what encodings any
particular TV understands before purchasing.
