Default Worried about Canadian birth certificate

Hi all,

I am an applicant from Ontario, Canada under the Skilled Designated Area class visa.

Getting a birth certificate for a new born in Ontario has become a nightmare for a lot of people who have to travel outside of Canada. In a country where the total population is only 31 million obtaining a birth certificate should be a matter of a week or let's say a couple of weeks but I know somebody who applied October last year and is still waiting for the certificate.

Our baby is due in September and we are worried that things might be held up just because of this piece of paper. There is something called "Certificate of live birth" issued from the hospital in the event of the birth of a child. I was wondering if DIMIA will accept this inlieu of the actual certificate, perhaps supported by an explanation for the delay.

Experts in this forum please chip in your 2 cents on this issue. If any body from Canada has been in this situation please share your thoughts with me.

Thank you in anticipation of your help.

Joe
