Default Work Type required to meet conditions of Provisional Visa

Hi,
We've got a 496 visa, designated area sponsored skilled, arriving in May.
The conditions are that we have to live in Victoria for 24 months ( oh the hardship ), and work there for 12 months, then we are eligble to apply for a Permanent Visa. (887)
http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/gener...ptions-496.htm

I've just been offered an interview for a job.

The thing thats worrying me is it's a temporary contract rather than a permanent job.
Does that matter, as long as I get in 35 hours a week to meet the "full time" requirement?

I don't want to work for them for 6 months and then find out it doesn't count.

Ideally I would quite like to get a few short terms contracts, maybe 2 * 3 monthers and a 6 monther, spread out over the 2 years, with big gaps in between. Or it could be "messier" than that, with a week on/week off situation over 2 years.
Is that allowed or would they need to be consecutive continuous contracts?

This link SEEMS to suggest that the only issue is with the quantity of paperwork that would be required to prove the work if I did multiple contracts.
http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/gener...ional-area.htm, but I dont want to make assumptions.

Any additional info, educated opinions, or links will be gratefully received.

Hi Cyn

It doesn't matter. You can work as a contractor. Why you want to "spread out" the contracts?? Anyway, it doesn't matter as long as you fullfill a total of 12 months in 24 months. But you need to collect all paperwork from all employers.
