Work Experience for Skill Migration-Aust.
Hello ! Dear Friends,
I am a Post Graduate in Civil engineering & want to apply for
Australia under Skill migration category. I have work experience in
the relevant field for one & a half year. Pl. tell me –
(1) Do I meet the prerequisite for IEA for the Engineering work
experience for the qualification Assessment ?
I mean, can I try for my qualification assessment with only one & half
year experience ?
(2) Do I possess the prerequisite of Work experience required by
DIMA as I have not the required experience of Three (03) years, but
one and a half year experience ( 1 1/2 year ) & a Master degree ?
Kindly guide & oblise me.
Thanking you,
Bye,
Mitul Patel,

Not sure what oblise means....
1) You should note that IEA does not have a fixed number of years of experience before your qualifications and work experience are accepted. You should read the skills assessment informational booklet issued by IEA.
2) I take it that you haven't gone around to reading the Skilled Migration Booklet yet, judging from your question. You are strongly urged to read it, and find out for yourself what these terms are: recent work experience and specific work experience points.

Dear Peter,
Thanks. Regarding point no.-2 you mentioned- I have gone thro' the
DIMA skill migration booklet. But,in that booklet it is not mentioned
about any advantage, a Post Graduate has regarding work experience
compared to graduates & under graduates.. I mean - there is no
advantage of Post Graduation to me in work experience matter & I must
need 03 years work experience & I can not apply before that ?
Pl. advice.

Re: Work Experience for Skill Migration-Aust.
Anil,
You can apply for assessment with IEAust by CDR after 1 1/2 years work
expereince. If they give you a positive assessment then DIMIA requires that
you have had 1 year or work experience in the last 18 months for a 60 point
occupation. You Masters degree does not help you in this regard. It is not
counted in lieu of work experience. If you require the 10 points to reach
the 115 points then you will have to have 3 years of work experience in the
last 4 to qualify.

If you rae married, and your wife can take IELTS and get a positive skills assessment, you can claim 5 points for that. Alternatively, you may like to take NAATI translation test in Hindi (www.naati.com.au) to get bonus 5 points or a total of 60+5 points.

If you have enough points (without needed the points from specific work experience), by all means apply now.
The booklet is silent about any advantage for post graduate studies w.r.t. specific work experience because there isn't any such advantage/exemption.
