will hepatitis B affect PR after grant?
Hi,
My wife is a carrier of Hepatitis B (non-active, good liver condition).
It's possible that she won't be examined for Hep B on our medicals
if we don't say about having it.
The question is: how can it affect our visas if the hepatitis B will be
found after arriving to Oz? Will DIMIA check if we had known about
it earlier and lied in application form?
How do You think: is it better to tell the fact to our examination doctor
or to hide it, because of refusal possibility?

That's up to them to decide if your Hep B condition will be a potential financial burden to the Australian healthcare system.

Very likely, yes. A medical condition is fairly easy to trace. If DIMIA finds out that you lied, your visas may risk cancellation, and it may make life quite difficult for you all.

The answer is obvious. Tell the truth. Skeletons in the closet usually come back to haunt you.

Maybe you're right, Peter.
All this migration procedure is becoming more and more complicated
for us. Maybe afterwards we will enjoy life in Oz more...

Your telling the truth is not only a matter of being honest for the
immigration process, it would be irresponsible for anyone treating you,
looking after you or examining you not to be made aware of being a carrier
as it puts them at risk too.
Hep B is specifically tested for certain occupations (but for most people
its just HIV), it is easily identifiable and you would be risking your visa
and any future status to remain in Australia if you lie about it.

i would say you need to declare it.
i also have hep b and have been recalled for a second medical ??we dont know at this stage whether it is anything to do with it as the envelope is sealed.just to add to the stress the doctor is out of the country at present, so an even longer wait is nessaccary.

Dear Spocit,
Don't worry. You should be more worried about lying to DIMIA than to have
some medical condition. Just using a common sense and information
available - if you don't need extremely expensive treatment, don't have a
terminal disease or TBC... You should not have too big problems.
I have got the same problem (hep B in my childhood) and except an extra
blood test it hasn't been any problem for me and any of my visa
applications.
But I would be always honest with the details you provide to DIMIA. Last
thing you would like to happen would be your visa being cancelled because of
your lying...
