Where does our entry into Australia need to be?
Hi,
I was hoping i could get some advice.
Me and my girlfriend have just obtained our state sponsored skilled visa.
The state sponsoring us is Canberra.
When we come out to Australia we wanted to spend a week in Perth visiting family before we fly out to Canberra to begin living out there.
I was wondering if our initial entry point into Australia can be Perth or does it need to be Canberra as they are sponsoring us?
I am sure this has a simple answer but i dont want to book flights until we are sure as i dont want to compromise the hard work we have done.
Thanks

Your initial entry can be anywhere in Australia so no worries about visiting family first

Circumstances were such that when my wife (an Aussie) & I moved from UK to Oz with our baby son I had to enter on a visitor's visa. When my residency was rubber stamped I had to bugger off to NZ for a few days in order to re-enter the country on the correct visa. It is a crazy rule. As it happens it was a fun little trip, but an expense and bit of hassle we could have done without.
