Default when does entry for a spouse visa expire?

For a temporary residency on a spouse visa, does it expire two years after it has been granted? Or two years from the date it was granted?

A related question: for a spouse visa, once it has been granted and your passport has been returned to you, is there a deadline to enter Australia?

The Temp Residence expires when a decision is made on PR.
Usually you will be contacted by DIMIA a few months before the 2nd anniversary of the application for the Temp residence Visa. You then have to supply info that proves the rel'ship is ongoing, and they will grant (or refuse) the PR visa. Your Temp Residence expires when that decision is made.

The entry date will be in the letter you receive with the visa & th4e returned passport - in the majoirty of cases this date is 12 months from the date of police check or meds, whichever is earlier.

And to add to what Polly has said, the temp visa is issued for only a limited period of time, I think 30 months. If your permanent visa has not been decided at that point, you go onto a bridging visa if you are in Australia on the expiry date (it can get complex if you are outside Australia then).

I stand corrected. I had thought there was a 30 month limit on temp spouse visas, but it seems that this is not the case.
