Exclamation When to apply for State Sponsorship?

Hi ALL,

I am planning to apply for the Victoria/WA state sponsorship (SS) keeping in view the current scenario of priority processing.

I have got my positive assessment for 2231-79 with MODL. I am waiting for IELTS result, to be announced on 3rd April 09.

So currently, I am looking into following alternatives to get the best possible processing time

If anyone could suggest something...

1 - Should I lodge my 175 online application now? (without IELTS & SS)
and then add IELTS result and SS letter. (Need to know HOW as well to have clear idea)

2 - Wait for IELTS result, then apply for both SS and 175 online application in parallel. so when got SS letter hopefully, then will change from 175 to 176 (Need to know HOW as well to have clear idea)

3 - Wait for IELTS result, then apply for SS, wait for SS letter, and then apply for 176 online application.

Thanks in Advance...

I would suggest the 3rd option, as it would avoid any complication and its pretty straight forward. Any way all are running after SS these days. is you occupation on victori State occupation demand list.

take care

Thanks shafanm for the suggestion,

I was looking for 2nd option for myself as it would be in parallel and I have seen some posts on changing from 175 to 176, but haven't read or heard anyone got it or not.

And yes, luckily my occupation is on the CSL, I got MODL and its on the list of victoria state as well.

I also did some search on living in Melbourne, according to information it seems good so far.

I would definitely go for option 2, especially with your occupation on the CSL! You might even get a CO before you hear from SS.
I am not too sure how to change from 175 to 176 but according to other threads I think you only need to notify DIAC and the state will fill out form 1100.

Hi, in my opinion it may be correct that you may get CO from 175 application before state sponsorship if you apply now, as they all should have CO by the end of May (although nothing is ever guaranteed). Also the 175 has no restrictions on where you live. You are in a good position being on CSL. Personally We (as well as many others) were on the CSL and all geared up to get CO by end of May, but on the 16th got "dropped like a stone". Thus meaning we are now only on the MODL which has not started processing yet, also when it does will go back to lodgement order. So I have now applied to the W.A. state government to convert to 176, so fingers crossed. The idea was to get in while we still can as they changed the goal posts and it may happen again.

If you do decide to do this the 175 application still runs. The state will ask for your TRN number (application number) and if they decide to sponsor you they contact DIAC to change the visa over. Awaiting reply now.

Good luck.

Chop.
