Default whats probably waiting time for 175 visa?

Hi all,

Anyone got any idea roughly what timespan a 175 skilled visa is likely to take?
I realise a 176 is an option, and everyone going for it, but our skills would have to be reassesed again for this as particular occupation/classification is not on the 176 Queensland list. (Civil Engineer) . Also realise that the 457 state sponsor is an option.

475 - sorry, confusing myself now!
Yes I know its on the list, but the one he is under at moment is a 60 point occupation, (its called something else .... engineer, escapes me for now) for the 175 which isnt on the list for a 176, we would need to get reassessed - oh long long story!

well in order to help we need to know the asco code of the nominated/assessed occupation.

Pass, cant phone the agent - again, as no doubt he will be getting well peed off by now. Already spoke with him today.
He can get a 176, but he would have to be reasessed again under another body.
I just need to know approx waiting time for a 175, I know re all other options.

at the moment for a 175, unless the nominated occupation is on CSL, no criteria is available on how non-CSL application will be processed. If we assume that they will resume processing MODL after they finish CSL and if your 175 is on MODL then it could take a year or more if you apply now. but for CSL and SS it will probably take 3-5 months.

it's just an estimate based on several assuptions. believe me no one knows for sure. DIAC in the last 4 months changed it's policy like three times. and it is expected to do it again soon.

Good luck

So he's been assessed as a 60 point occupation and an engineer. Almost all professional engineering professions are on the CSL, and most of them are on the QLD sponsorship list too.

If it's a bog standard 175 application, non-CSL then they're not being processed just now. When they've finished the CSL applications, they're going to move onto MODL occupations. Are you on the MODL list?

It's impossible to say. If you had asked 6 months ago it would have been a safe bet to say if you are from UK expect 6-9 months wait. Now it could be anything from 3 months to 2 years. Nobody can say. As has been said, DIAC has changed the priority processing a few times in the past couple of months and they could do it again any time.
