What would our next step by if...
I am due to come to Perth with my girlfriend in 3 weeks, I have spoken to someone there is a chance I may get work with as a brickie, he will know if his company is approved soon. Lets say it doesn't get approved what is my next step for emmigration? Am I able to apply for a WA sponsered state visa whilist in the country?...if so how?
Sorry if this has been asked before, I just want a few idea's of how to go about it.
Thanks

If you can't get sponsored then skilled migration might be an option if your occupation is on the list. Trouble is I think I read that bricklayer has just been removed, so first thing to do is check the skilled occupation lists. If it has been removed then skilled migration its out for you. I would recommend you check the employer sponsored occupation lists too whilst you are at it.

Hmmmm I have just looked on this website.
http://www.migration.wa.gov.au/skill...sindemand.aspx
And it appears that bricklayer is still on there.....I certinly hope it is!
And my girlfriend is a qualified hairdresser if that helps....may we be able to go by her trade if brickie is off the list?
I was in Perth in 2008 for 4 months and hairdressers were in dyer need! I'm guessing after 4 years then it would changed but I hope not for her sake and mine!

Yep, brick layer is off I'm affraid. You could try state sponsored on either of your occupations.

Gutted!
I'm coming over on a second year holiday visa and my girlfriend is on her first. The chance my girlfriend will find a hairdressing company to sponsor her and me to go on it with her may be a way if I don't get sponsored myself then?

In the first year I did 3 months construction work which has entitled me to another years holiday visa.
Do you think I will get pulled in the airport and asked questions about what I did etc??

I have watched episodes of border security where they have pulled people over as they arrive, question them about where they worked then look into it. I assume they must have lists of dodgy employers ( the ones who will take money to SAY you worked for them) or maybe they just see those people didn't pay tax at those jobs. I don't know, but they must have some reason for pulling people over.
Sponsorship wise, you would be better with state sponsorship I would think. Employers in those jobs seem to like casual staff.
Good luck.

You would also need good evidence of a long standing de facto relationship with your girlfriend for her to be on your sponsored visa and vice versa x

It's off schedule one. They don't seem to have announced the changes for schedule two, or the consolidated SOL they're meant to be releasing. It's a little confusing.
