Default what is needed for the medicals?

hi everyone,

my wife and i wanted to front-load our 47sk with medicals ... is there a
place on-line we can gather information in regards to what exactly is needed
by DIMIA for this purpose?

what does our Dr. have to provide? what type of tests do we need to
complete, etc.?

thanks!

not sure of the link on DIMIA website, but your local GP cannot do your medicals.

they have to be done by a 'panel doctor'
you need Xray first, then medical - incl urine test, blood (HIV) test, & Hep B test if you have tattoos or it's otherwise indicated.

you can printoff form 1071i from www.immi.gov.au this will give you health requirement info. You need to get a medical form and an xray form for each applicant - we got them by emailing the London Australian High Commission and they sent them straight back. You have to attatch a photo on each form. You can obtain a list of panel docs from www.australia.org.uk - haven't done it yet but you have to get the xrays done at a seperate place in our area. All this info is on DIMIA website - it kind of gives you a paper trail to follow. They don't make it that easy!!!!

Once you have the forms you can pretty much see what tesy will be done from the form. It's really a standard type medical except for the chest xray as far as I can see, blood tests etc.

Good Luck - thought I would reply in case you were in a hurry and wanted to print this stuff off tonight!!

i assume a 'panel doc' is the one selected by DIMIA i our area ... is this
correct? does this mean that without knowing who these panel docs are it is
impossible to front-load with medicals?

what could they be possibly be interested in as far as the urine test? i
wonder ...

regards!

as far as i know the urine test is to test for glucose for signs of diabetes,

hep b tests are normally done and if you have a tattoo then hep c is included a list of panel doctors can be found at

http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/doctors/index.htm

hope this helps, have just been asked to send ours

dont forget if you are not on the modl list then your visa could take up to 50 weeks so the validation date for your visa will go on the date u get the meds done

Do an internet search for the Embassy of Australia at DC. Several states also have missions/consulates e.g. GA, CA, NY etc

I hope this helps you

Australia does not have a high commission in the USA. Only consulates and an embassy.

If you're in the States you are in luck because any medical doctor licensed in the USA is approved to complete your health info and medical checks, if you complete the checks in the US

Peter, thanks for the name correction!! However, according to DIMIA, an Australian mission can be any one of the following: An Australian Embassy, Australian High Commission or Consulate. I guess suggesting that a consulate is a mission was not wrong afterall....

Either way a search for Embassy of Australia at DC should be able to yield some valuable results for 4000 psi !!

No xray for the little one (Thankfully) - he will need a medical though.

i contacted the AUS Emb in DC, they told me that they do not provide Form 26
and 160 and that ASPC will provide them when the time comes ... obviously
things are a bit different in the US than they are in the UK, i guess ...

Yes, that's right.

A consulate is generally a branch mission. They usually are located away from the capital of the host country. For example, the Australian consulate(-general) in Vancouver, Canada.

An embassy is the name of the mission of a country in the capital of the host country. For example, the Australian embassy in Washington D.C. The term embassy is used for missions between non-Commonwealth countries, and between a Commonwealth country and a non-Commonwealth country. Commonwealth here refers to the British Commonwealth, and not to the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States).

A High Commission is a fancy term for a mission of a Commonwealth country in the capital of the host country that is also part of the Commonwealth. E.g. British High Commission in Canberra.

And the Australian consulates in the US have no immigration functions
(although they do help Australian citizens get passports). Only the
Australian Embassy in Washington has a DIMIA immigration office.
