Police Clearance Certificate comes from your local police station or
sheriff's office, it is requested via a form that you fill out in person at
the police station, you present you drivers license and $11 per request ...
it is mailed to your home address in approx 7 days ...
USA FBI Police Clearance Certificate - is the FBI Arrest Record ... it is
requested from the FBI in writing and with Finger Print Cards attached for
each individual ... it costs $18 and it needs to be a cashiers check ... the
Finger Print Cards can be obtained from the local police station (same place
you get your Police Clearance Certificate) and cost $10 per person printed
... the cards are given to you to take with ... you attach a short written
note to the FBI and mail it all in ... you get your Arrest Record in approx
4 weeks ...
you need both the PCC and the FBI PCC to apply for visa ...

About PCC
hey thanks... this really helped..
i have one more question ..
My husband and me are basically Indian citizens and are in US on working visa. I joined my hubby 7 months back and he is here from the past 4-5yrs. Now do we have to get the PCC from India or from the Indian High Commission in USA?
As per the letter from DIMIA they say that we need to provide PCC from every country that we have lived for a total of one year or more in the last 10yrs.. so as per that i need to get it from India and not from USA..
So can anyone tell me if i need to get the PCC from the local police station from India or from the Indian Embassy here in USA?
Thanks
Sammy

Re: What is the difference?
by the time you apply to DIMIA and they review your case you as well as your
husband would have lived in the US for more than 12 months ... so in my
opinion you will both need to get FBI Arrest Record and the Local Police
Clearance (PCC) ... and i do not think that either of you will need
anything from India ...
