Default Ways into Oz

If I can't get anyone to sponsor me we are looking at getting my other half trained up to do a job which they need in Oz.
We could survive on just my wages, but would prefer not to have to do it for too long. Has anyone gone down this route?
We have thought about training in Oz, but would like to explore our options in the Uk first as 20 hours a week isn't very much once in Oz.

Can anyone recomend any courses which arn't too long, and don't need too much work experiance afterwards?

Thanks very much for any advice.

There is no guarantee of permanent residence, if that's what you are asking. Plenty of additional requirements - an Australian qualification is not enough.

There is talk of imposing a mandatory 1-2 year skilled work experience requirement for Australian graduates (seeking permanent residence) on 1 July.

Sorry, I didn't make that very clear, I was looking at options in the UK.

We would find it much harder to survive in Oz I think than we would in the UK, and we have a fair few years before we are too old to apply, so any advice on UK courses would be good.

if you trained in Aus it would count for something but if you train in england it counts for nothing and would delay everything for years..
its a tough one for sure.

I think you get bonus points and some work experience exemption if studied in australia, but i hope training in the UK counts for something because thats what im depending on!!

time scale.
if you have got to train it might as well be in Aus
if you train in england then you have to wait till you have experience.
when you get to Aus you have to do some form of training again.
might as well train for recognized aussie qualis

quite a few people on here are training in aus in order to qualify..
your point about it not being enough was noted but if it were open to me, its definitely the route i would take.

it would cost me £24,000 to do that option today... more next year cos of uni costs for my daughter thats without the restricted working...
i could do that easy but you have to be serious about moving to take that option.

i would be interested to hear why its not enough as packages are being sold via this route..

the cost include kids schooling and is approx

it does..
my statement was to sweeping, and in answer to someone else.
i didnt think about another person reading and applying it to their situation..
jaj has seen this i think..

i have looked at it tho and if you are in a position to train in aus, then i would.

dependent on course, money and kids (in my case)
yours will be different

Well no kids, and my works has anounced they are going to be offering voluntary redundancy soon, last time they did that they offered 2 years wages, so that would make it a fair bit easier.

Thanks everyone.

By the way, does anyone know any agencies who specialise in training courses in Oz, and which ones are more likely to lead to PR?

Thanks again.
