Default visa validity check

Hi guys

I have 457 visa and I have been away from Australia for more than a year , so I'm wondering if my visa still valid or not.

is there any website I can check that?

cheers

Do you still hold the job for which the 457 was granted?

If you are no longer in the job in Australia then the company will have / should have informed DIAC in order for the visa to be cancelled.

not knowing the whole story and considering the same company - still worth checking the VEVO system just in case they opted to keep it alive for whatever reason. The link is on the immi website homepage on the right hand side somewhere.

Would there be provision to keep a visa active for someone not working in the role anymore? I thought 457 visas were granted where there was a specific need to fill a particular job.

Agree though, not enough info. OP probably need to confirm who is your employer, where are you paid, where do you currently live, for what purpose are you returning to Australia, is it to do with work or for a holiday or for any other reason?

thanks a lot for that, I checked it in VEVO and the visa "in effect" .. theoretically my visa valid until 2012 ..I think my employer haven't told DIAC because I neither resigned or dismissed ( I only moved for the same employer to another country with the same job) which may be something they have to prove to DIAC.

Why are you going back to Australia? Are you returning to your job or just a holiday? Are you going to rock up to Australia without checking this properly. What if inmmigration desk ask why you are on a 457 but haven't been in the country for X months or otherwise question you.
