Hi,
Sorry if there is already a thread somewhere but I have applied online without an agent for a spouse visa. It's going to be some way off yet, but, just wondering if anyone knows how you find out if/when successful. Does Immigration write to you or should I just keep checking my immi account every month for some sort of update?

When your visa is granted you'll received a grant notification by email. Your case officer will normally write to you before then however once they have finished their initial assessment to request any further evidence and/or your health and character checks. Did you apply through London? When did you lodge your application?

I would not 100% trust automatic notification. When we got our PR visa, it was only after two frustrating phone calls to Immi enquiries did we get the news that it had been 'finalised' one month before. They would not tell us on the phone if it was yes or no! We had to go to Immi in Sydney to find out...luckily it was yes! Sometime later I got a sheepish e-mail from the case officer which translated as the letter had sat on his desk/in the round file for a month.

If you applied through the UK you're looking at 10-14 months at present, though some recent ones have come through in 9 months.
You should get an email but you can alsokeep checking your Immi account as the status will change on there once its granted. DOn't start until you are well down the track though, gets depressing looking every day and seeing no action!
VEVO is also a ssource of truth once ts ranted.

make life easy for anybody do they - especially considering what they charge for the service!!
