Visa granted to moving out - How long have we got ?
Hi Everyone.
We are applying for a 136 visa. (4 members in our family)
We had our Medicals on 8th January 2007 and our Police Checks are dated September 2006.
Still waiting for a decision.
I am wondering if anyone out there can answer a couple of questions for us:
1/ How long are we going to have to wait for a decision once our case officer has the Medical results ?
2/ When we get our Visa granted (fingers crossed), what sort of timescale have we got to move to Australian and is it dependant on the date of the Police Checks and Medicals ?

cant help you with q1 but in answer to q2, yes you have one year to validate from the date of pcc or meds which ever is the earliest. so once you have your visa you'd have to validate before sept

You could be waiting up to 3 months for a decision, or even as quickly as 3 weeks !! - It just depends on what other info - if any the CO Wants.
With regards to enreing Australia - they wil request you validate before the expiry of your Police Checks - September 2007 !

No. Once your visa is granted you will get a date to enter by. If I remember right the wording was something like "your visa must be validated prior to 13 April 2007. This date cannot be changed."

As you have not had your visa granted you can redo your police checks now but as you had your medicals in January that will be the date they will go on even if you redo your police checks as it is a year from the earliest of the police or medical checks.
Are you using an agent? If you are, they should be able to help. I personally would recommend redoing the police checks if you do not think once you get your visas that you will be able to have them validated by September. Maybe you are in the position to go over to Australia when your visas are granted and then return to the UK and take up to the five years that the visa initially lasts for to make the permanent move back to Australia.
