Visa Application on hold how can we get in??
Someone help!!! Finally got out 176 Sponsored (relative) skilled migrant visa sent March 09. Told to ring back in Sept 09 as visa applications frozen due to state of economy. Just rang OzImm and they say our application is now bottom of the pile and won't be looked at until July 2010. Cannot be serious. Living in NZ, have nearly run out of money. Husband is Civil Engineering Technologist. Want to go to Victoria. Husband needs to do Civil CDR?? but we are worried as we dont know how to complete it!!! 45 years with 25 years civil contracts manager experience. Will this be enough to complete the CDR. We are running out of time, as daughter is due to start High School in Feb 2010 and we had hoped to be in OZ by then. When we completed the forms they said relative sponsorship would go straight through no problems. Now they say that it will be the last category to be looked at!!!!
We can't get State sponsorship unless Hub completes the CDR
as Civil Engineering Technologist is not on their list. Been over to Melbourne and there are plenty of jobs, but non of the companies will sponsor us in. We need to move before we run out of money completely. Your advice would be appreciated!!!

Family sponsored visas are at the bottom of the heap right now and Australia is concentrating on bringing in skilled workers in jobs which are in demand. Nurses, engineers, accountants.
Take a read of the Engineers Australia website for what is needed for their skills assessment in the way of CDR. Otherwise there are tons of websites devoted to CDR help. Or, as another option you could hire a MARA registered agent to help just with that part of things.

Whether he applies for a 176 family or state sponsored he's going to have to do a CDR for his skills assessment from EA. Also, you say he's 45 with 25 years experience. Did you send your application prior to his 45th birthday? Did it include a valid skills assessment?

Yes you can apply to any state that has you on the list (occupation). There is an obligation though to live in that state for 2 years. Once you've done that you can move on. There are circumstances where you can break the agreement early but those tend to be because you haven't managed to find a job and have exhausted all possibilities.

Application went in 2 months before 45 with EA skills assessment as C E Technologist. Actually working as a Contracts Manager!!. Would be be able to find a Migration Agent who would be prepared to just deal with this part? Our application is in under 176 Relative Sponsorship, can we change that to State Sponsorship without having to put in another application?? Thanks for your help..
