Default which visa

Hi All,

I am currently on a working holiday visa but want to stay in Australia permanently. I had intended to apply for state sponsorship but have been told by a migration agent that I could be waiting between 2 and 3 years for this to come through as I am not on the csl(I'm an electrician). My current visa expires next may and would prefer not to have to leave Australia. The migration agent told me the best way to stay would be to get sponsored by a company. Has anybody got any other ideas?

Cheers
Adrian

Unless you can get sponsored by an employer you could try a student visa which will allow you to work 20 hours per week while you study or marry an Aussie.

Check out www.immi.gov.au

Cheers Dorothy but neither option really appeals to me as I have a partner and don't really have any intention of returning to full time study!

Look at http://www.immi.gov.au to see if any other options may apply but do be aware that the selection is limited.

Getting employer sponsorship is the only option I can see, i.e. the one you've already identified.

If none of the free information you have got here appeals to you perhaps you could contact another agent and pay for some advice. There are few options which would allow you to stay, and it's simply being pointed out to you what those options are.
