Veterinarian
Dear friends,
One of my friends is a practicing veterinarian in Nepal. He wants to migrate to Australia. He needs to have his qualification assessed as Veterinarian by AVBC.
I have the following questions in this regard:
1. Can he be assessed as Veterinarian without being registered in Veterinarian Regstration Boards in Australia?
2. Does he need to pass the NVE in order to get the assessment as Veterinarian?
Thanks for your input.
Best regards,
Gokul

Re: Veterinarian
gokul,
Unfortunately, there is no shortcut on this one. The Veterinary profession
prestigious and it is very regulated in Australia and if your accomplice
doesn't meet the requirements for registration in any of the states, then
he/she has to under take the NVE. As you probably know already, unless you
graduated from The UK, Aust, NZ (Massey), AVMA Accredited Vet school or
South Africa (Pret), your friend will be turned down for sure! The NVE is
pretty structured and 'tough' however, it is a good starting point. If you
don't mind, avail your friend's 'other' email so we can share some thoughts.

Dear Merit,
Since you've been so nice and helpful I will try your patience with another cry for help. I am an Australian resident and also a qualified vet from Romania. I recently applied for NVE and I am bound to sit the exam in March this year. I must say that I feel a bit like fishing in murky watter as there is so little information one can find in regard to this exam. I surfed the net to death and unfortunatelly there was no forum or message board for Australian veterinarians with relevant information for me. If you can give me the smallest tip or advice that could help me with the exam I will be eternally in debt to you.
Cheers,
Simone.

Simone,
Should you wish to avail an avenue of contact (email, for instance), I will
be more than happy to discuss issues that you might be of help for you
towards NVE. Time is running out!
