Default Update or redo 175 application?

Hi there
We applied for a 175 in August 2008 under Computing Specialist NEC. As there was no specialisation listed on our ACS assessment we are not on the CSL.
Today we received a new ACS assessment for Computing Specialist NEC (.Net technologies).
Can we send in our the new assessment and get our application moved onto the CSL? I know that you cannot change your occupation on your application in order to get priority processing but seeing as our occupation code is not changing would this be possible for us? I would love to save paying the application fee if possible.

We are also applying for Vic SS based on the new assessment but given their low acceptance rates for IT I am not relying on this.

Basically I see our options as:
1) update application to move it on the to CSL (if possible) - 6 month wait
2) apply for Vic state sponsorship - if successful - 6 month wait
3) if not successful and no able to update submit new 175 app - 10 month wait (given lag due to waiting for outcome of SS) + cost of new app
4) submit new 175 app now - 6 month wait + cost of new app

Clearly 1 or 2 would be preferable, but if these are unlikely then I would prefer 4 over 3 and so should put in our new 175 app now?

Any thoughts?
Thanks
Lynette

Does not seem anyone knows if it is possible to change my 175 visa as discussed above. Any ideas how we can find out? Should I write to the visa authorities as per the "additional information" functionality on the online app?
Thanks and sorry to ask more on this topic. Just not sure where to go from here

Hi lynetteh,

Two months ago, I was in same situation. FYI, DIAC will not accept new assessment on old application.

In my case, after I recd VIC Govt sponsorship on new assessment, I have requested them to sponsor me on old 175 Application which would save $$$ application fee. After a couple of follow-ups finally they agreed and sponsored on off skill list (Analyst programmer).

Thanks

Hi Lynette

Did you submit a brand new ACS assessment, or was it an appeal. If appealed, they will accept it, if a brand new one they won't. However, the comment about switching to SS, is an excellent idea.
