UK Passport with CPV soon to expire
I have a 10 year UK passport which expires in August this year. It has my precious Contributory Parents Visa on it, which doesn't expire until July 2012. Obviously I need to renew my passport - will they transfer the CPV on to the new one? (Will they lose it!!!). Could I have advice, please. I am still in the UK.

Not sure who you mean by "they"?
when you get your new passport you either travel with both when you go to Australia or send new passport to Australia House for a new visa label.

What happens to your old passport?
IPS will cancel your old passport when a new one is issued. You cannot use the old passport, but IPS will return it to you unless it has been defaced or altered. In these cases it will be destroyed and not returned to you.
IPS advises you to photocopy all relevant pages showing stamps and visas. This may be helpful if you need replacements.
You can ask DIAC to put a replacement in your new passport, but there's bound to be a fee.
