Ghee

Hello all. I'm an Australian male - with a question. My french girlfriend is about to
apply for a temporary visa (2 years) but we are unsure as to which visa we will be
going for - either "de facto" or "interdependant"? We've been a couple for almost 3
years, living in the UK together for most of that time. In the booklet, the
interdependant category states that this category is NOT RESTRICTED TO SAME SEX
COUPLES. Both types of categories state that the couple must have lived together for
12 months prior to the application. So I guess I'm really asking, what's the
differences bewteen the "de facto" category and the "interdependant" category? Is the
interdependant category just for gay couples who can't get married (in some states)?
