turberculosis concern

turberculosis concern
Dear all,
Thank you for those who have given me valuable advice during the last year and now I am in the stage of requesting medical and police clearance check by DIMA.
However, I have another question comes:
In form 26 "Medical Examination for an Australian visa", question 15(c). It reads "Have you EVER had tuberculosis or an abnormal chest x-ray, or have you ever coughed up blood or had contact with a person with turberculosis?"
My answer to this question should be YES as I have contacted my father, who has passed away many years, with light turberculosis infected. He was not dead of turberculosis, and I have not been infected at that time.
If I reported it, will it cause my application failed?
If I didn't, once they discover I have made false statement, my application or granted VISA may be canceled.
Is there anyone has the same situation as me?
(Is that I am over anxious ?)

I'm in exactly the same situation
my Dad had TB when I was born. He recovered & died some years later of unrelated illness.
I am going to declare this when I get my meds done in 10 days time.
we were all checked out every 6months until I was around 12 years old, so I reckon I should have nothing to worry about!
- nor should you.
I believe it's better to tell the truth than to be caught lying!

I am a nurse & have worked with TB patients. My X-Ray came back from the
panel as showing TB scars (although the Chest Consultant doing the X-Ray
said it was fine. I had declared working with TB patients. I was asked to do
a Health Undertaking & got my visa without delay. We go in 1 week & 6 days!
Declare it, you'll be fine.

From my experience in healthcare. Tell the truth. You were exposed to TB, even if you omit that info. the chest Xray, skin/PPD test will reveal your lie by omission. The tests will be positive for TB exposure, unless some miracle happened.
Afterwards, The most likely cause of action would be that you would be required to take certain prophylactic medication. If you were not infected and id not suffer from TB, you may still need TB prophylatics; this will be determined by the doctor who does your health assessment. While on prophylactics, you will undergo further tests to monitor your state until doc.s are sure that you will not pose a health threat of active TB.

I took my physical examination on april 2003,and be told infected with TB. DIMA asked me to have another x-ray in the six months.I will have the x-ray on this October.
I'm not sure whether the visa would be granted when I'm recovered this time.

Infected or Exposed to TB?
Please view this as an opinion and not absolute. Remember you must always consult your physician about health conditions.
To comment, I'll say that when you have ACTIVE TB it is of GREAT CONCERN. This is because TB is a serious condition in that it is a highly contagious, infectious disease and is communicable by airborne transmission from an ACTIVELY infected person. Only an
actively infected person with signs and symptoms could transmitt the infection airbourne. People who are exposed to TB and do not have an active TB infection are unlikely to spread the TB infection, unless the infection becomes active later on. This info may sound complicated. I recommend that you consult a physician for more info. about TB!!
I recommend you follow your physician's instructions because your physician conducts tests, assesses your condition and determines the course of treatment/tests based on his/her findings.
Remember that only a physician that does your health assessment/medical physicals diagnose any health conditions.

Your physician's tests and assessments will determine how DIMIA makes their decision, after your medical-physical follow up with the doctor. Who knows what will happen?
