Default Travel to UK on Aussie Passport

Can anyone give me some advice please?

I have British friend, who now has both Australian and British passports.
They are moving onto India for a couple of years before returning to Australia, and unfortunately their relocation company has been far from efficient, and they don't have the time now to apply for an Indian visa on their British passports before leaving Australia for a month travelling in Europe before taking up the Indian post.

Would they be able to travel into the UK and around Europe on their Australian passport, send their British Passport to the Indian High Commission in London for the visa while they travel, then leave the UK to travel to India on the British passport with the new visa in it?

I guess what I'm really asking is are there restrictions that say you have to enter and depart the UK using the same passport?

Grateful for any help here, thanks

I would think their main issue will be that they will be treated as Aussies visiting the UK and Europe. So - any country in Europe that they intend to visit on an Aussie passport, check out whether an Australian needs a visa for that country.
Also be prepared to be asked more of the "why are you here, what are your intentions" questions than would be usual if carrying a British passport in Europe.
If they have the itinerary for their onward trip to India its probably an idea to carry that with them then they won't run into issues with "how long are you in the UK,you can nly stay so long on this passport" etc

JAJ may come up with stuff I'm unaware of later though!

Thanks, didn't think of that side of it! Will get her to look into visa needs in Europe.
