Default Travel during Spouse 2nd Stage App

Guys

OH is currently on a 309. DIAC have contacted re 2nd stage for subclass 100 and we've sent the stuff off.
Now its clear she has to contact them is she wishes to travel while application is in progress - and she does!
We've emailed and got receipt stating "response in 5 business days". Its now been longer than this but only 7 days. Its 21 days til she travels.

Do we phone? If so when?
Any tips?

Why is it not possible to travel on the 309 visa?

I don't see why she would have a problem travelling. She needs to let DIAC know she will be out of Australia, but her orignal visa should be valid for multiple entry and should be fine till the PR is decided.

Thanks girls

Yes, her 309 is still valid for multiple travel. What concerned us is that in the 100 app, it says you must inform DIAC before any travel during second stage app.

Q is do we just inform (by email as we have done ) or does she need to speak to someone?

Cheers

Just make sure you send them the dates, you don't actually need to speak to her.
They just need to know so that if they are ready to grant the visa while she is away, they then hold off till she gets back

Actually - not necessary in this instance, as the 100 visa can be granted whether the applicant is onshore or offshore.

(it would be different with an 801 visa off an 820).

So could she actually travel without even informing DIAC?

Thanks again girls

Regarding quote above, the paperwork said she MUST inform DIAC. She tried to call the Canberra centre but to no avail (as no response to email) so called Perth. They were vague bit said if email sent thats fine.
We'll see

It may just be standard wording dealing with onshore cases and they don't understand that this is an offshore case. I'd be interested to know what reason they give.

(there may well be a valid reason).
